Overview
PurposeTab is a Chrome extension built to help you stay focused and intentional. We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and what we never do with it.
Data Stored Locally
All personal data you enter into PurposeTab — including your daily intention, mantra, goals, habits, priorities, notes, reflections, and uploaded images — is stored locally on your device using Chrome's built-in storage. This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly choose to back it up to your own Google Drive (see below).
We do not have servers. We do not have user accounts. We cannot access your personal data.
Google OAuth (Optional)
PurposeTab offers an optional Google Account connection that enables two features:
Google Calendar integration — displays your calendar events in the Today's Schedule section
Google Drive backup — backs up your PurposeTab data to a folder in your own Google Drive
Connecting your Google Account is entirely optional. If you choose to connect it, your OAuth token is stored locally on your device only. PurposeTab never stores, transmits, or shares your Google account information or any data accessed through your Google Account with any third party.
You can disconnect your Google Account at any time from the Settings panel.
Google Analytics
PurposeTab uses Google Analytics to collect anonymous, aggregated usage data — such as how often the extension is opened and which features are used. This data contains no personally identifiable information and is used solely to understand how the extension is being used so we can improve it.
We do not use analytics to track individuals, build profiles, or share data with advertisers.
Images
Goal images you upload are stored locally on your device using your browser's IndexedDB storage. They are not uploaded to any server. If you use the Google Drive backup feature, your images may be included in that backup — which goes directly to your own Google Drive account, not to PurposeTab.
Data We Never Collect
We never collect, store, or transmit:
Your name, email address, or any identifying information
Your calendar event details or content
Your personal notes, reflections, goals, or habits
Your uploaded images
Any financial or payment information
Third Party Services
PurposeTab uses the following third-party services:
Google Analytics — anonymous usage analytics
Google OAuth / Calendar / Drive API — only when you explicitly connect your Google Account
Data Deletion
Since all your data is stored locally on your device, you can delete it at any time by uninstalling the PurposeTab extension. This permanently removes all locally stored data. Any Google Drive backups you have created can be deleted directly from your Google Drive.
Changes to This Policy
If we make material changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.

PurposeTab Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms
By installing or using the PurposeTab Chrome extension ("the Extension"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please uninstall the Extension.
2. Description of Service
PurposeTab is a free Chrome extension that replaces your new tab page with a personal focus dashboard. It is provided as-is, with no subscription, payment, or account required.
3. Your Data
All personal data you enter — including intentions, goals, habits, priorities, notes, reflections, and uploaded images — is stored locally on your device. We have no servers, no user accounts, and no ability to access your personal data. You are solely responsible for your data.
If you choose to connect your Google Account, any backup data is written directly to your own Google Drive. PurposeTab does not store or transmit that data.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree to use PurposeTab only for lawful, personal purposes. You may not reverse engineer, modify, or redistribute the Extension without permission.
5. Third-Party Services
PurposeTab integrates with optional third-party services (Google Calendar, Google Drive, Google Analytics). Your use of those services is governed by their own terms and privacy policies. PurposeTab is not responsible for the availability or behavior of third-party services.
6. No Warranty
PurposeTab is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We make no guarantees about uptime, accuracy, or fitness for any particular purpose. Use it at your own risk.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, PurposeTab and its creator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Extension, including any loss of data.
8. Changes to the Extension or Terms
We may update these Terms or the Extension at any time. Continued use of the Extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above.
9. Termination
You may stop using PurposeTab at any time by uninstalling the Extension. We reserve the right to discontinue the Extension at any time without notice.
